"Rewatch Worthy" - Episodes you shouldn't miss on your second (or first) time through
1.07 (Losing It)– This episode is kind of a mini-summary of the first half of Season One. It gives you pretty much all the background you need about each character up to this point, does a great job showcasing Bette and Tina’s relationship, and has a great scene between Tim and Marina. I also love this episode because it really shows how much the women care about each other and every character has a prominent role. Plus who doesn’t love watching Dana and Lara have sex with 5 other people in the room?!
1.14 (Limb From Limb) – This episode is so so so so so important. Bette cheats on Tina and more or less rapes her. Tina slaps Bette. The two people Jenny are sleeping with meet each other. Jenny finds out that Marina has been dating Robin as well. Dana gets engaged. Alice tells Dana she’s in love with her. Shane’s life takes a terrible turn. If things had actually worked out for Shane and she owned a salon, her character probably would’ve turned out completely differently. Regardless of the important plot in this episode, it also is (in my opinion) Jennifer Beals’ best episode. It has such a great sex scene with her and Candace, and then her acting during the controversial love scene with Tina is stunning. Definitely not an episode to be skipped.
2.06 (Lagrimas de Oro) – While this episode doesn’t have a huge amount of insanely necessary plot, it’s a good recap of what’s been going on and it has some awesome scenes. For example, the very popular line from Bette “I fucked up, I didn’t fuck off”, and the pool sex scene between Helena and Tina is a fan favorite. This is also the episode when Dana and Tonya break up, which is pretty important plot-wise. In my opinion season 2 is pretty redundant and can get boring, but this episode is a bright spot in the darkness of “how much can we shit on Bette”.
2.13 (Lacuna) – Season finales are usually pretty good, and this one is no exception. Important stuff happens and some really emotional stuff too. They have a funeral for Bette and Kit's father (which Gloria Steinem shows up to), Bette gets fired, Angelica is born, Tina moves back in with Bette, Peggy Peabody owns Helena's ass, Carmen and Shane get together officially, Jenny cuts (and tries to kill?) herself. and Heart performs. It's a pretty crucial episode and has a lot of ups and downs, especially for Bette fans.
3.05 (Lifeline) – This episode is both fun and emotional. There's some good love scenes- Helena and Dylan, Alice and the vampire, Shane and Cherie, and Dana and Lara have a little action. But there's also important plot, including subtleties that really develop later on. For starters, between Bette and Tina start take a nosedive and their relationship clearly has a lack of love in it. Tina is flirting with men and talking to them sexually online, and starts constantly accusing Bette of spending too much money but then is against her taking a possible job in New York. Moira becomes Max, which is the beginning of a huge subplot. There's the whole Carmen and Shane drama when Cherie comes to visit and then Shane sleeps with her again..which is somewhat the beginning of the end of "Sharmen". And then there's everything going on with Dana. We find out she has breast cancer but she doesn't tell anyone except for Lara. And finally, Alice is starting to move on and get over Dana, maybe at the worst possible time. It's a good episode overall and pretty important.
